Week 38: By myself for a week & new music
Weeknote #38.25, from to .
Published on .My wife went to visit family abroad so I was by myself for most of the week. I was actually excited to have a few days alone (my mother-in-law had been staying with us for a while).
Learned #
- Started to learn how to make music with strudel. It's a tremendously cool technology. I'm having so much fun playing around with it.
Listened #
- Gave a full spin to King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard's Butterfly 3000. Lovely from start to finish.
- Revisited Caroline Polachek's Desire, I Want To Turn Into You. Always a pleasure.
Watched #
- This week's episode of ALIEN Earth, "Emergence". It's going to such interesting places. Fascinating but so tragic. It's over next week!
- Pixar's Elio. Loved it. My review.
- This week's Peacemaker, "Back To The Suture". As it gets more personal and introspective, it's also getting darker, more violent, and more emotional. A great ride so far.
Played #
- Just 1 day before the end of the season, I reached the Champion rank in Rocket League. It doesn't get old, always pure fun.
- In anticipation for the release of Hades II next week, I revisited Hades on my Steam Deck. This will always be an outstanding game. This time I finally beat Charon! And there's a actually a couple of "side quests" that I'd like to finish: Eurydice and Orpheus, and Achilles and Patroclus.
- On UFO 50:
- Completed the campaign on Warptank. A gem of a game. I was actually a bit sad that it was over, but then I saw that there's a lot more to do to get the cherry! My review.
- Completed Seaside Drive and had a great time all the way. My short review.
- Also played Magic Garden and Rakshasa.
- I tried the demo for BLADECHIMERA on my Steam Deck and was immediately hooked. Feels pretty much like a futuristic Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night.
Moved #
- Played table tennis at work. I'm actually getting way better at it!
- Biked a bit more than usual to go where I needed to. I should keep this up.
Went out #
- A friend is going to visit Japan for more than a month so I joined her with other friends for drinks as a "see you later" kind of thing. Any excuse to hang out is fine by me! We ended up in Café Geelvink. Good times.
Read #
- 📖 Continued with A City On Mars. Basically, there is no Planet B, indeed.
- 🔗 "The three-or-four-hours rule for getting creative work done" by Oliver Burkeman. Appreciated how liberating this felt.
Created #
- I wrote my first song in Strudel! "travel by night" 🌌.
