Week 43: Flamenco guitar & spooky shows and movies
Weeknote #43.25, from to .
Published on .We enjoyed the tail-end of our vacation and returned home halfway through the week. Took a while to shake-off the post-vacation blues.
Learned #
- The word "profligacy" which essentially means the waste of resources recklessly.
- The Harmonic Minor Scale on guitar, which is the common "flamenco scale".
Watched #
- Started season 2 of Ghosts, with episodes 1-3. It's becoming my favourite comfort show.
- Finished season 4 of Abbott Elementary.
- Being spooky season, I rewatched the four Halloween episodes of Community. This is my ranking:
- "Epidemiology" from season 2
- "Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps" from season 3
- "Introduction to Statistics" from season 1
- "Paranormal Parentage" from season 4
- Continued The Midnight Club with episode 7.
- ⭐ Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein in Pathé City. As it's usual from his projects, there are visually stunning sets and costume designs, explorations of the darkness of humanity and the kindness and sympathy of "monsters".
- A House Of Dynamite on Netflix. Started great and tense but kept on deflating as it went on.
Played #
- Hades II keeps on surprising me with new stuff. I unlocked the first
and it felt like a bunch of new possibilities opened up (alongside new animations!). And finally, I completed the epilogue which was neat, and finally had a revealing conversation with which was actually very impactful and emotional. Great stuff. - Started and finished VVVVVV. Love that the title directly represents the core gameplay mechanic. A short but fun one. My review.
- Coming out of Hades II, it felt like a good time to finally go for the one Supergiant game that I haven't played: Pyre. As expected, the music, artwork, and characters immediately engage and pull you into the setting.
Read #
- Continued "A Night In The Lonesome October".
Created #
- Using the newly-learned "flamenco scale" on guitar, I started writing and recording a bunch of guitar riffs and melodies that I want to evolve into full songs.
